What Is A ďChakraĒ ?

'Chakras',  loosely defined, are your bodyís  'Energy-Portals'  through which your body absorbs vital energies from the Universe.  Once absorbed by the Chakras, these vital energies then get distributed throughout the body through a variety of physical and energetic pathways.

Diagram 1. The 'Throat Chakra'

A Chakra looks like a mini-tornado, or a spinning vortex of energy, where the small part of the spinning vortex is closest to the center of the body and the larger part of the spinning vortex points outwards from the body. Each Chakra is a different color due to the different frequencies of light energy being generated by the spinning of the Chakra.

It is rare for a person's chakras to be spinning in absolutely perfect vortexes. The degree of distortion of a person's chakras varies immensely, from extremely slight distortions in its spin, to virtually no spin at all, and everything in between.  The more distorted the spin of a person's chakras, the more likely it is that that person will have physical or emotional health issues related to that distorted chakra.

The Location of the Chakras

The human Aura is composed of 7 primary Chakras

(Note: It's actually 12 chakras if you include the back chakras -see diagram below)

Explanations of the 7 Primary Chakras

Note: The explanations of the 7 Primary Chakras given below combine insights from ancient yogic meditation masters as well as from more modern 'New Age' spiritual teachers and psychic healers.

ZiJi Disclaimer: While I have personally verified much of the following information of the 7 Primary Chakras myself through direct communication with my own and other people's chakras, I must add my own insight that there are infinite dimensions to all the chakras, and every person's chakras are completely unique to them. When I tune into and communicate with your chakras I try NOT to have any preconceived ideas in my mind so that your chakras can communicate their unique consciousness to me. In reading the descriptions of the 7 Primary chakras below, I would encourage you to NOT get caught up in the details of each chakra since healing sessions with me might reveal aspects of your chakras that are not adequately described below. In particular, it is important to recognize that emotions rarely reside in one chakra exclusively, typically being echoed in several chakras simultaneously.

This 1st or Root chakra is traditionally associated with the color red. In its idealized, untraumatized state, the vortex is pointing downwards from a point located in between the legs.  It is the bottom end of the main energy channel running vertically up and down the center of the body. This chakra holds the basic needs for survival, security and safety. The root chakra is powerfully related to our contact with the Earth, providing us with the ability to be grounded on the physical plane. This is also the center of manifestation when you are trying to make things happen in the physical world, in business or to gain material security.  The Adrenal gland is the gland associated with this chakra. Physical problem areas include the hips, legs, knees, feet, spine, kidneys, bones,  lower back, large intestine, appendix, and sexual organs.  Difficult emotions related to this chakra, as noted by various sources, include fearfulness, anxiety, lack of confidence, frustration, ungroundedness, and sexual dysfunction.

NOTE: A manĻs sexual organs are located primarily in his Root Chakra, so male sexual energy is usually experienced primarily as physical. A women's sexual organs are located primarily in her second chakra (the Belly Chakra), so female sexual energy is usually experienced primarily as emotional. Both chakras are associated with sexual energy.

This 2nd or Belly chakra is traditionally associated with the color orange. In its idealized, untraumatized state, the front vortex is pointing outwards from a point located two inches below the navel while the back vortex is pointing outwards approximately at the top of the sacrum. This chakra holds the basic needs for sexuality, creativity, intuition, emotions, friendliness and self-worth. Proper balance in this chakra means the ability to flow with emotions freely and also the desire to reach out to others emotionally and sexually.  The gland associated with this chakra is the Gonads. Physical problem areas include the kidneys, lower back, reproductive system, small and large intestine, pelvis, urinary tract, bladder, constipation, and muscle spasms. Difficult emotions related to this chakra, as noted by various sources, include guilt, blame, manipulation, anger, obsession with sex, and lack of energy.
This 3rd or Solar Plexus chakra is traditionally associated with the color yellow. In its idealized, untraumatized state, the front vortex is pointing outwards from a point located two inches below the bottom of the sternum, while the back vortex is pointing out from the midway point of your spine. The gland associated with this chakra is the pancreas. Physical problem areas include digestion, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, spleen, stomach, small intestine diabetes, and food allergies. When balanced, this chakra is the center of positive personal power, passions, impulses, strength, cheerfulness, expressiveness, outgoingness, self-respect, and enjoyment in taking on new challenges. Difficult emotions related to this chakra, as noted by various sources, include lack of confidence, confusion, depression, excessive worrying about what others think, excessive ego, inappropriate anger and feeling that others are controlling your life.
This chakra and is traditionally associated with the color green, and also sometimes pink. In its idealized, untraumatized state, the front vortex is pointing outwards from the breast bone in front and the back vortex is pointing out from between the shoulder blades. The gland associated with this chakra is the Thymus. The Heart Chakra is the center for love, compassion and spirituality. This center directs oneĻs ability to give and to receive love, and also to love oneself. Almost everyone today has suffered a hurt, or broken heart at some point, and it is no accident that heart disease is the number one killer in America today. Physical problem areas include the heart, circulatory system, blood, lymph, breasts, lungs, bronchi, upper back and shoulders, high blood pressure, insomnia, and difficulty breathing. When this chakra is balanced you may feel compassionate, friendly, joyful, flexible, empathetic, desire to nurture others and see the good in everyone. Difficult emotions related to this chakra, as noted by various sources, include self-pity, indecisiveness, fear of letting go, over-sensitivity, fear of getting hurt, and low self-esteem.

This 5th or Throat chakra is traditionally associated with the color blue. In its idealized, untraumatized state, the front vortex is located approximately where the Adam's apple is, while the back vortex is located in the center of the back of the neck. The gland associated with this chakra is the Thyroid gland. Physical problem areas include throat, neck, jaw, teeth/gums, thyroid, upper respiratory, skin, ear, upper back, shoulders, arms and hands. The Throat Chakra is the center of communication, sound, and expression of creativity via thought, speech, and writing. When this chakra is balanced you may feel musically or artistically inspired, highly communicative, self-expressed, and motivated to follow your dreams.  Difficult emotions related to this chakra, as noted by various sources, may include feeling suppressed, frustrated, powerless, and an inability to express oneself. These emotions may lead one to be more timid vocally or possibly more aggressive vocally.

This 6th or Third Eye chakra and is traditionally associated with the color purple and also sometimes indigo. In its idealized, untraumatized state, the front vortex is located above the physical eyes pointing outwards from the center of the forehead, while the back vortex is pointing out the center of the back of head.  The gland associated with this chakra is the Pituitary gland. The Third Eye is the center for intelligence and thought, imagination and visualization, deep perception, psychic ability, higher intuition, and spiritual insight.   Physical problem areas may include eyes, face, skull-head, brain, sinus, ear, lymphatic and endocrine system.  Difficult emotions related to this chakra, as noted by various sources, include feeling emotionally detached, mentally unfocused, intellectually stagnant, non-assertive, and afraid of success.

This 7th or Crown chakra is traditionally associated with the color white and also sometimes with violet. In its idealized, untraumatized state, its vortex is pointing upwards from the crown of the head. It is the top end of the all-important main energy channel that runs vertically up and down the center of the body. The gland associated with the Crown Chakra is the Pineal gland. It is the center of purity, spirituality, faith, peace, selflessness, humanitarianism, devotion, inspiration and enlightenment. It
also controls a personís values, morals, and ethics
.  It is the gateway to a personís higher or 'cosmic' consciousness. The soul comes into the body through the Crown Chakra at birth and leaves from it at death. Physical problem areas include muscular system, skeletal system, head, skin, chronic exhaustion, and sensitivity to light, sound and one's environment.  Difficult emotions related to this chakra, as noted by various sources, include over intellectualizing, dissociation with the body, a lack of purpose and meaning to life, and a lack of inspiration.

There are 7 layers of the aura which surround the human body at increasing distances from the physical body

Diagram 3.  The 7 layers of the aura
(*Note: the colors of the 7 layers shown here are NOT the actual colors of the layers)

Each of these layers has their own set of 12 Chakras, which are connected to, but still distinct and individual, from the 12 Chakras on all the other layers.

So, technically speaking, there are 12 Chakras multiplied by 7 layers, making a total of 84 Chakras in the human aura.

And each of these 84 Chakras vibrate at different frequencies and radiate different colors !

Finally, the energies from the 84 chakras flood into the human body, following the body's energy meridian pathways or channels, taking these energies to every body part, organ cell, etc., in the body.  These energy meridian pathways are the same pathways as is described in ancient Chinese Acupuncture Meridian diagrams (see images below).

* An Important Point To Remember

Nobody has perfectly spinning Chakras !

A person's aura is an exotic combination of the 84 imperfect Chakras spinning simultaneously plus the distribution of these imperfect energies throughout the body via the energy meridian pathways.

At any given moment in time, a personís aura is filled with moving and shifting combinations of colors, which again, is the result of all of the 84 Chakras combining with each other and the distribution of these colors throughout the body via the energy meridian pathways. This is shown in the picture below.

Diagram 6.  The 84 Chakras creating a multi-colored auric field surrounding the body, as well as bringing multi-colored energies deep inside the body through the energy meridian channels.

The importance of Emotions

It is important to realize that a personís emotions have a lot to do with how each of the 84 Chakras are spinning individually and also how they are combining with each other to flood the aura with shifting multi-colored light patterns.

Emotional traumas from this lifetime (and past lifetimes if you believe in reincarnation ) become frozen inside a personís aura, being the main force behind the uneven distribution and distortion of these 84 chakra energies as they stream through the body's energy meridian pathways.

Chakras and Food

There is also a direct relationship between how much food we need to eat and how open our chakras are.
The more blocked our chakras are, the more food we need to eat.
As well, a person will be more attracted to less healthy or 'junk'   foods in direct proportion to how blocked their chakras are.
When our chakras are more open, we literally 'eat light', while cutting down on food intake.
As well, when our chakras are more open, our body naturally craves more healthy and nutritious foods.
In addition, our metabolism and our ability to burn fat increases when our chakras more open.

The basic Yin-Yang of the Aura

Right to Left Balance: The right side of the aura holds the 'Yang', 'masculine' or action-oriented aspect of the aura, while the left side of the aura holds the 'Yin', 'feminine' or receptive side of the aura.
Back to Front Balance: The back side of the aura holds  the 'Yang' aspect, while the front side of the aura holds the 'Yin' aspect.
